STEM Ambassador Talk During British Science Week

Posted on 16 March 2025

I had the absolute pleasure of delivering my first STEM Ambassador talk during British Science Week.

A huge thank you to the fantastic team at Lime Wood Primary School for the warm welcome, and a special shoutout to Headmistress Miss Ingrams for trusting a first-time STEM Ambassador to engage with her students.

As part of British Science Week 2025 (🔗 British Science Week), I introduced Y1 students to the science behind batteries—with a fun potato clock demonstration! We also explored ways to reduce our environmental impact through rechargeable batteries and recycling schemes.

The kids were brilliant—curious, engaged, and full of great questions.

It was also inspiring to see the strong bond between the students and their teachers, who were always on hand to support. I won’t lie, I was a little nervous—4-6 year olds can be a tough audience! But their enthusiasm quickly put me at ease.

I’m already looking forward to returning to Lime Wood soon.

A big thank you to STEM Learning (🔗 STEM Ambassadors) for their support and training, and to the Chemical Business Association (🔗 CBA) for encouraging me to take on this rewarding role.

🔬 Supporting STEM education is vital for the future of research, industry, and innovation in the UK.

STEM Ambassadors help spark young minds, fostering the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technologists. By inspiring and equipping them with key skills, we can help ensure the UK remains at the forefront of scientific progress and tackles global challenges head-on.
