Location: Home based in the UK
An exciting opportunity for a seasoned Business Development Manager to play a key role driving and delivering a strategy for profitable and sustainable growth at a growing and ambitious chemicals distributor who are an established provider of specialist ingredients and raw materials.
The role will focus on developing the business in specialist chemical additives for a number of business units including surface coatings, adhesives & sealants, printing inks and asphalt or bitumen.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop business and opportunities at new customers across the UK and Europe.
Maintain and nurture existing accounts in the UK and Europe ensuring customer satisfaction and creating healthy long-term relationships.
Demonstrate quality and reliability through recommendations and demonstrations that provide the best application of the business lines.
Develop strategies and solutions to address specific customer opportunities and challenges.
Promptly and effectively manage customer questions, concerns and issues by making the appropriate referrals where required.
Identify and determine key market trends and make actionable recommendations for business improvements.
Serve as the voice of the customer and feedback to the business, strategic intelligence on important trade channel developments, trends and requirements.
Manage current principals and forge healthy relationships with key supply partners.
Actively participate in motivating and building team spirit within the business to achieve any targets set and encourage a collegiate working environment.
Support training for the wider team as appropriate.
Comfortable giving formal presentations to clients, principles, internal stakeholders and other large groups.
Represent the company at exhibitions and seminars.
Candidate Profile
Several years of field sales experience selling speciality chemical additives .
Good technical background; preferably degree level chemist.
Strong commercial skills and an ability to identify, develop and on board new business opportunities with passion, ambition and drive.
Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
Great team player, flexible and adaptable.
Self-starter with ability to work under own initiative, confident at all levels of seniority.
The role is home based with occasional visits to the main office or other team meeting location.
Occasional weekly overnight stays to ensure effective territory planning.
Expect to plan and execute high quality client meetings and spend significant time on the road.
Occasional international travel.
UK Driving license.
