​Location: Office Based in Cambridge - Hybrid

A great opportunity for an ambitious Product Manager with a technical and commercial background in chemical supply and distribution. Our client is a rapidly expanding chemical distributor looking for a Head of Product Management. As part of the executive leadership team you will manage the product management and quality team. You will be expected to use your technical knowledge in chemistry together with your commercial experience to identify and solve problems and set priorities for your teams. Continuous improvement of processes and procedures both within the department and cross-department will also be a key component of the role.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Install creativity and growth into your teams, support and encourage their development, training and setting standards, instilling stability and team spirit.

  • Build strong partnerships with your teams and the executive to collaborate in identifying innovative opportunities, develop and execute product strategies and define KPIs and roles and responsibilities.

  • Support and advocate for both products and your team members at executive level.

  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers and develop suitable plans for market penetration.

  • Collaborate internally on product requirements, processes and procedures.

  • Support the commercial team in developing appropriate pricing structures and monitor market trends, competitor pricing and customer demand.

  • Support marketing and customer communication with technical content, data sheets and messaging.

  • Lead initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and sustainability and ensure clients are properly supported by logistics and timely delivery.

  • Support the Quality team in customer support, troubleshooting and ensuring appropriate regulatory compliance across the business.

  • Creating and presenting reports on findings, defects, improvements, statuses, and risk management

Technical Skills

  • Chemistry degree or equivalent. Knowledge of adhesives, coatings, composites, construction or food manufacturing markets would be an advantage.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar management role such as product management, supplier management or project management.

  • Capacity to manage multiple projects.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Preferred 5 years in the chemical (distribution) industry.

  • Ability to work both as part of a team and on own initiative with excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Polite, tactful and friendly attitude with strong motivational skills.

  • Good planning and organisation with an ability to meet targets and deadlines.

  • Exceptional at problem-solving and able to remain calm under pressure.

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, setting the standard for team behaviours.
