Great opportunity for a Junior Colourist / Colour Chemist to join a successful and growing business in polymer technology. As a Colourist, you will play a crucial role in the formulation and production of pigments and colourants for various applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Data Colour 200 or similar equipment and possess a detailed understanding of dispersion production methodology and optimization, particularly with Silverson, triple roll, and bead mill processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory-based experiments and tests to develop and optimize pigment dispersion formulations.

  • Utilize knowledge of dispersion production methodology to ensure efficient and effective dispersion of base raw pigments.

  • Work with various dispersion media including water to achieve desired colour properties.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop colour solutions for different applications such as plastisols and liquid colours used in dispensing systems.

  • Provide expertise in gel coats for GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) applications.

  • Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and formulations.

  • Troubleshoot issues related to colour consistency, quality, and performance.

  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in colour chemistry.

Requirements:

  • Experience of colour, dispersion and colour matching is essential.

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field would be of benefit.

  • Proficiency with Data Colour 200 or similar equipment.

  • Hands-on experience with dispersion production processes such as Silverson, triple roll, and bead mill.

  • Knowledge of plastisols and experience with liquid colours used in dispensing systems is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with gel coats for GRP applications is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Must reside close to factory or be willing to relocate.

  • Must have the right to work in the UK - sponsorship is not available
