​Location: South East London

Our client is a manufacturer of coatings and corrosion products for a range of applications in construction and marine environment. Supplying a Global customer base requires that quality of materials and finished products is up to standard. They are seeking a Junior Laboratory Assistant or Quality Assurance Technician to assist the Quality Manager for all aspects of testing and compliance within the manufacturing site.

Reporting directly to the Quality Manager:

  • Inspect and test raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, returns, and packaged products, recording lab data accurately.

  • Monitor plant conditions and products during production, updating Daily Inspection Sheets.

  • Notify Production Operators of non-conformities, record corrective actions, and recommend adjustments to meet specifications.

  • Approve intermediates and products; register and investigate non-conformances.

  • Ensure non-conforming materials are segregated, reported to the Quality Manager, and corrective action is timely.

  • Issue Batch Mixing Sheets and Test Certificates as needed.

  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, keeping accurate records.

  • Investigate customer complaints and submit reports.

  • Assist with SOPs, internal audits, and regulatory inspections.

  • Collaborate with the Production team to ensure smooth operations.

  • Manage lab stock and ensure adequate supplies.

  • Follow quality and environmental procedures, maintaining good lab housekeeping.

Candidate Profile

  • Several years’ experience in testing, analysis, QA or QC within a manufacturing or Laboratory environment.

  • Experience of laboratory work and knowledge of some Chemistry.

  • IT literacy to high standards (Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams & others).

  • Experience with managing small teams and projects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively within the team and with other departments throughout the environment.

  • An open, flexible, proactive, and positive approach towards work & can-do attitude.

  • Must live within commuting distance of site.

  • Must have the right to work in the UK, sponsorship is not available.
